“Love is God and God is love” (1 John 4:7-8). If I have God I will love my neighbour, and if I love my neighbour I will not cause any harm or hurt come to my neighbour.
Who is my neighbour?
My neighbour is anybody else except me. “If I don’t love my neighbour whom I see, how can I love God whom I don’t see?” (1 John 4:20).For my only prove that I love God is that I show love to my neighbour. Moreover, when I love my neighbour, I prove that I am a true follower of God who is love.
What is Love?
📌Love is is patient and kind.
📌It is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.
📌It does not insist on its own way.
📌It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
📌It does not delight in evil but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
📌Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful.
📌And it endures through every circumstance. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
Again, If I love my neighbour I will manifest to him all these attributes of love and in doing so, I, consequently, will obey the law; “for love is the fulfilment of the law.”(Romans 13:10)
What is the law?
The law is not only 10 commandments but also comprises of all the other instructions, inferences and convictions we receive when we read the Bible. Our conscience when it convicts or commends us can also act as law; the law also includes the laws of the land in which we reside in.
In conclusion, if I want to be guiltless or faultless before the God, then I must love. If I must love aright then I must follow God, for it is only through him will I learn how to show true love to my neighbour.
