A random lady met me this evening and said, “Don’t worry yourself at all.”
For the sake of confidentiality, I will not mention some facts. But suffice it to say, she sees me every week, she rarely knows much about me, she lights up when she sees me, she calls me “Maureen” and she likes talking about so many little things. A happy cheerful lady she always is.
Anyway I met her today and of course she was talking about the weather, about this and that. I just listened like I always do. In the midst of her chatter, she suddenly said to me, “Don’t worry yourself at all.” I laughed and was really surprised to say the least. But… I was touched. It was some calm reassuring words from the least expected. It made me happy.
Has it ever happened to you? Receiving help, healing, a word of encouragement, strength or support from the least expected? I bet it has.
And you know, that’s one of the dynamics of following God. Sometimes God speaks or even sends help through the least expected, through the people we look down upon and feel they’ve got nothing to give.
God spoke through a donkey to Balam and God had to open his eyes for him to understand what was going on.
We have to learn to listen to everyone, it is a mark of great humility and a willing heart when we allow God to speak to us through any means He seems appropriate. Most times we may lose a destiny helper or a blessing because we are waiting for God to speak in a loud bang of miracles and visions. God may still help us through another means but that may take longer than we anticipated. We must stop limiting God and His power. If we say we trust God, then we have to prove it and open our hearts to him rather than be selective hearers.
God can change our lives, our thoughts and our narrowed perceptions through any means he deems fit. But most times through the least expected. Through those we don’t regard much or even those we feel we are better than. All we need to do is to prayerfully ask God to confirm it if He is the one speaking. If we open our hearts to Him, He certainly will respond.
And tonight, I will not worry at all. God has got my back.
“Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 1 Cor 12:27”
