Valentine Haiku – God’s Love #2

Flashbacks stunned his five senses-
Sin ravaged parched souls;
Love’s rescue- a quenching spring.

Notes:
Past memories amazed and lectured his full being, memories of his old life- how sin took advantage of his longings and ravaged his soul mercilessly. But through God’s Love, he was rescued; his thirst was quenched with springs of Living water.

Reach Up, Reach Out

Your scribbled words
An enigma,
Your spoken words
A mystery,
Sudokus are made
For scholars;
Demystify the letters,
Unravel the illegibility,
Unmuzzle your freeness,
Reach up, reach out;
Send an invite to the Holy One
Who loves you eternally.

“Why?”

1C3996A5-2F0A-4A8C-A076-43FE6F121162

Children sometimes profusely asks,
“Why?”
They never get tired;
Yet, this word produces in us
A bitter taste the older we get;

Children wonder about everything
But adults wonder about specifics-
Love, pain, suffering, hope,
Adults ask and worry about tomorrow;

Sometimes, “Why?” has an answer,
Sometimes, no answer at all exists,

At such times,
Let us stop worrying
Let us start trusting;

Not worrying about tomorrow,
But trusting that our tomorrow,
Is in the safe, steady Hands of God.

Tempest Tossed

B4E2A3FE-2DC4-41E4-893E-084D6C13019F

Tempest tossed
I am overwhelmed,
Hassles brewing around me
Wondering, worrying what will be,
Broken, bruised, I fall to my knee
Seeking from this pain to be free,
Then I hear a still small voice
Saying, “My child rejoice”,
I am always on your side
All you need, I will provide,
You are safe in My palms
In the hollow of My hands.

Fabrics Fit For The Master’s Use

7F7ACEED-62AA-4378-ABA1-54C58AC6A8C4

Like a fabric, on tenterhooks
I have been stretched
To the limits of my yarns,

Though stressed, starched, stretched
Hung out in the scorching sun,
I will not be torn
I will not be broken
I will not lose faith

For when this ordeal is over
My Master will unhook me,
From the heat of the scorching sun
I will return to the coolness of the home;

There, I will be a great fabric of honour
Washed, and purified from stains,
Fit for my Master’s purpose;

For you see, in a great man’s mansion
There are different types of fabrics,
Fabrics for kings, fabrics for floors,
Fabrics of honour, fabrics of lesser honour,

If I must remain a fabric of honour
I must keep myself immaculate and undefiled,
From the stains of sin and selfishness,
From the stains of worldliness and ungodliness.

Out From The Miry Clay

B5EF68B9-B3D7-4ACC-8E65-9FDC35999882

Out from the miry clay
Love drew me out
Out from the depths of sin
Grace plucked me out
Out from the darkness
Perfect light shined
Beauty beyond belief
Mercy beyond my mistakes
Out from the sludge
Life called me back
To life

Love Is You And Me

6E2DEF6A-1008-4575-92F7-776F62EF8B23

Spin a perfect love story
Spice it with thrills and frills
Add some touching embellishments
Remember to make room
For the realities of life

Make perfect your love plans
In the curves and turns
Of Love’s treasured lines
Remember to connect
With the real human in you

Love exists not in a vacuum
Love lives not in the air
Love glides not in realms of nothingness
Love is you and me
May I be the love I want see in others

Jesus- Our Best Buddy Ever!

What a friend we have in Jesus! All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.
Oh, what peace we often forfeit! Oh, what needless pain we bear!
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Hymn by Joseph M. Scriven

When we think of all the challenges life throws our ways;
When sickness ravages the body that the doctors and physicians are confused;
When the death of a loved one leaves us vulnerable and burdened with pain;
When despite our faith and unending prayers, the matter seems to persist;
When debts and financial crisis attempts to steal our joy;
When at the crossroads of life’s decisions we don’t know what to do;
When we are all alone struggling to keep up and there’s no one who understands; When war and terrorism attempts to bind us with fear;
When the hurt of the past stops us from moving forward;
When life comes to a halt and nothing seems to be working no matter how hard we try;
When we are in dire need of forgiveness and restoration;
When we’ve been lied to, betrayed, despised and forgotten.

In such times, we realise there’s one buddy, one friend we can count on any day, any time, anywhere.
He’s never tired or weary of us, He’s always there in good times, bad times, middle times.
He never fails and we can count on
His unending love,
His redeeming mercy,
His unfailing compassion and
HIS matchless faithfulness
To see us through the times.
No matter how we beat His chest in pain or in anger, He is never broken.
His arms are always there wrapped around us, keeping us safe and secure in Him, comforting and consoling us. And if we wipe our tears and listen closely to His heart, we will hear Him saying,
“Trust Me child, I will never leave you nor forsake you”.

Jesus, the best Buddy we can ever have!

Our Planet

Look up,
Look around,
See

Skylights,
Dazzling along the Milky Way;
Dense clouds,
Caressing Everest peaks;
Strelitzia,
Blooming with Beauty;
Night, Day,
Order in the Skies;
A baby, a mother,
Circle of Life continues;
Macaws, Topaza pella, Caracara,
The Amazon is home;
Niagara, Erie and Ontario,
A love triangle;

Our Planet,
The perfect masterstroke
Of a Great Genius.

Unpopular… But Yours

IMG_2618

Though not famous
I know
I am special
Though not popular
I know
I am Yours
Though not beautiful
I am beautiful
Through Your eyes
Though not rich
I am rich
In Your grace

For You see me
Not based on what I’ve done
Or who I am,
You know me
By what Your Son did for me
By who I am, in You.

Peace At The Crossroads

IMG_3030

Lost.
Confused.
Uncertainty looms.
Uncertain of what I want.
Uncertain of what You want, Lord.

Guide me.
Lead me.
Show me,
Your way.

You ask,
“What do you want?”
I say,
“Whatever You want, that I want,
You know me better.”
You say,
“Peace.
I give you My peace.
My peace, shall guide you, into My will.”

Peace.

Poet’s notes:
Some weeks ago, out of excitement and some great confidence in myself I took a bold step of faith and ventured into something new. It is what I want but, if it pulls through, the opportunity costs are high.
Now, I’m asking myself whether I am willing to make the sacrifice it demands. I’m really wondering what I’m doing, honestly I’m not sure. I prayed asking God for directions, to know His will and purpose concerning it. God assured my heart that I will find peace in His will. And this is truth through all the ages: when we find ourselves at crossroads, we must always remember that His peace and that unwavering deep assurance beyond understanding guards and guides us into His purpose for our lives. Amen.

Come Home, Son

IMG_3011

Doubtful mind, hesitant steps…
Tentatively, he made his way home
Yet fearing, he’s become unloved
He turned back…
But his father,
He longed for his return
For everyday, every evening
He stood by the gate,
And waited… for the return
Of His Prodigal son
