Then The Rains Came

Spring is here!
But the rains came today too
It started out a sunny day
It ended up wet and rainy
And so is life

Does it mean Spring is gone?
Does it mean the sun rays are hidden forever?
Will the rain make Spring go away
For good? No
And so is life

We may set up goals, plans and projects
We were hopeful in January
We had faith, we believed
But… rain is here, in March
Set backs, disappointments, failings

It’s not time to hang up that dream
It’s not time to press that quit button
A little rain cannot stop Spring
Neither can a setback stop you
Life is in seasons; Spring, Summer…

And so is your life

L – Loyalty is Laudable #AtoZ 2018

Loyalty is laudable

Put a price on friendship
Loyalty points for sale
Go to, sell all you have
Make an ample payment
Own unswerving devotion
Reassuring to know
Someone’s got your back…

Loyalty is laudable

Celebrating Mum at 70

A154F9C5-E796-4A19-9F10-BD1D360CCFAE

Today I’m not writing a poem, but I’m excited to say-
I celebrate my mum who turned 70yrs this month. Having lost my dad at an early age, she became a single mum and raised us (me and my siblings) to the best of her ability. I want celebrate her humility, her soft spoken nature, her godliness, her prayerfulness, her loveliness, perseverance, etc. As a parent, she mastered the art of been stern and sweet over the years.

Today I celebrate all the mums and dads doing an amazing job for their families, working round the clock trying to secure a future for their family.

Today, I celebrate all the single mums and single dads who are just alone in it all, trying to work out and balance everything all by themselves.

Today I celebrate parenthood, brotherhood, sisterhood.

Today I celebrate family.

Happy 70th Birthday My Dear Mother.

Below are two poems I’ve previously written in honour of my Mum.

My Dearest Mother
How Much Is Your Mother?

Life Can Be A Tough Cookie

Life can be a prickle; life can be a tough cookie,…

It can be hard to believe when all around you, your circumstances look contrary. To believe becomes a matter of your obstinate will and dogged determination. Hope against hope… hoping in God.

You have to find a will somewhere, somehow, within you, to keep trying to believe that one day your story will change for the better… that the longing and the desire in your heart will be met.

So you keep on believing, for that’s the only way for you not to sink into the abysmal depths of despair and unbelief.

I will keep believing. I will keep believing in God. I will keep believing in myself.
I may not have the answer I so desire now, nevertheless I will not lose my faith, instead I will shield it. For if I lose my faith, what have I gained at the end?

After all, my faith is all I have now, so, I will keep on believing.
Contemplations from a desperate heart.

And with these heartfelt words, the Season of Hope series comes to an end. Due to privacy issues, I’m sorry I’m not at liberty to share with you the details behind this writeups, but I’m glad I shared it this way. I have been able to use words to search deep into my soul, and to hope in God.

Season Of Hope: Down The Foggy Road

Unsure steps,
Unclear path,
A winding foggy course,
Wait! A light!
A glimmer of hope?
Sadly, not so!

It may not be Your will,
I’m guessing Your answer is “No”
“I need Your strength,Lord”
To receive Your will, to move on,
And to accept Your choice for me,
Whatever it turns out to be”,

“I know that when You say, “No”,
You always have something better planned”

Daily Prompt: Foggy

Notes:
To understand the import of this poem, take a look at my other poems on Seasons of Hope. These seasons are glimpse of my current experience with God. If you are going through seasons, I pray we will all find the strength in God to remain faithful in Him and shine through Him. Amen.

Season of Hope: I Will Bloom

IMG_2609

So I will stand
Despite the trying times
So I will bloom
Despite the pouring rain
So I will sway
To the rhythm of the wind
So I will shine
When the sun is out
When the rain is gone
When the wind is still
No matter the rage of the rain
I will bloom

Season of Hope: Trusting You

Through these years,

I’ve learned to trust You,

Even in this season,

I’m learning to trust You,

Show me Your way,

Help me to always say,

From my heart within,

I trust You, Lord.

Season of Hope: Can’t Give Up Now

IMG_2610

I just can’t give up now
I’ve come too far from where I started from
Nobody told me the road would be easy
And I don’t believe He brought this far
To leave me

(Mary Mary- Can’t Give Up Now)

This beautiful encouraging song by Mary Mary has been on my mind since morning. It’s so true and very uplifting. In my little journey with God, He has not left me before. And, I know He will not leave me now.

Season of Hope: Give Me Wisdom

Give me wisdom,
To know what I can change,
Give me strength,
To accept what I cannot change,
Let my faith soar higher,
Than the eagle’s nest,
No matter the outcome I see.

Season of Hope: His Strength is Enough

You must think I’m strong
To give me what I’m going through

I know I’m fighting to stay on
Buy my little strength is ebbing away

Everyone expects me to be strong
But I can’t hold it in much longer

So if there’s a strength You see in me
Open my understanding, help me find it

I just want to let out a scream
Not out of faith or for fear

But to release all my emotions
All my musings and brooding

To the One who cannot be broken
So He can bind me up again

Then,
I hear Matthew West on the radio
“I can do all things
Through Christ who gives me strength
I don’t have to be strong enough”

Yes, I don’t have to be strong enough
Because His strength is enough

Poet’s notes:
I’m personally going through a season of challenges and setbacks. I’m using this series- Season of Hope to unveil my thoughts and prayers to God. Let God do as He deems fit.
