Which Room? What News?

Countless screams and joyful outbursts filled one room while cries of pain and sadness filled another.

Shivering with anticipation and endlessly rubbing sweaty hands, tapping restless feet on the wooden floor in a vain effort to manage tension, glancing eyes about yet barely seeing anything, thoughts incoherent and mind not at ease.

The suspense is intoxicating, the waiting game is emotionally draining… waiting to be called forth, to be directed to one of the two rooms.

Two unsettling questions to be answered by the sluggish slothful time- which room? What news?

Music and Me

Other than writing, another hobby I enjoy so much is music. I love singing. Anywhere I am there has to be music. In my car, at home, on my phone, at work when alone. Countless karaoke sessions in the house and in my car has become one of my daily routines with my children as my audience. And if I love the song, I’ll have to google the lyrics and later watch the video on YouTube.

My sources of music includes my two favourite stations- Star 88.3 and Premier Praise on the Tunein Radio App; my countless CDs and most importantly my iTunes music library which currently contains 313 gospel songs and more yet to be downloaded on iTunes.

Top of the list on my favourite artists include TobyMac, Mandisa, Deitrick Haddon, Third Day, Don Moen, Jesus Culture, Casting Crowns, Sinach, Brandon Heath, Cece Winans, Keith Lancaster, Matt Maher, Matthew West, Mercy Me, Newsboys, Steve Green, Audio Adrenaline and a whole lot of others. Most of these I knew them through Star 88.3 christian radio station and I’ve been tremendously blessed and broken, uplifted and encouraged, healed and restored by their singing.

My love for music is also evident in my love for musicals. Some of the musicals I enjoyed watching include Little Shop of Horror, Singing in the Rain, Glee, Sister Act, Mama Mia, Les Misèrables, The King and I, Hair Spray, Grease, Lion King, Mary Poppins and so on. My all time favourite of all that I could watch non-stop and never get bored is Sound of Music. I’m in love with this film. It’s a timeless classic.

Why do I love to sing? Why do I love music?
I find music very enriching and inspirational when I’m down. It gives me that quiet place of solace and solitude where I completely bear the stirrings of my heart to God. Sometimes when I can’t find the right words to express myself, music complements that need. And of course, when I’m happy I express it well through singing and a bit of dancing. Music reconnects and unifies my heart with God, joy and peace flooding my heart like a river as I bask in His awesome Presence. And countless times, I’ve received God’s clear leading and direction through music. Music liberates and frees the soul to realms and heights yet unknown like an eager soaring higher and higher into the third heavens. Music is like a necessary food that intoxicates my soul.

I’ll end this with a song by Third Day, an amazing song about the love of God that is very dear to me. It’s titled Love Song. You can listen to it on YouTube here, I do hope it blesses your heart as it did to mine.

I’ve heard it said that a man would climb a mountain
Just to be with the one he loves
How many times has he broken that promise
It has never been done.
I’ve never climbed the highest mountain
But I walked the hill of calvary

Just to be with you, I’d do anything
There’s no price I would not pay
Just to be with you, I’d give anything
I would give my life away.

I’ve heard it said that a man would swim the ocean
Just to be with the one he loves
How many times has he broken that promise
It can never be done
I’ve never swam the deepest ocean
But I walked upon the raging sea

Just to be with you, I’d do anything
There’s no price I would not pay
Just to be with you, I’d give anything
I would give my life away.

I know that you don’t understand the fullness of My love
How I died upon the cross for your sins
And I know that you don’t realise how much that I gave you
But I promise, I would do it all again.

Just to be with you, I’ve done everything
There’s no price I did not pay
Just to be with you, I gave everything
Yes, I gave my life away
Yes, I gave my life away

Daily prompt words: Sing, Countless

Crimson Porch

Chapter 3

“Help! Help!” “Somebody help me!”

The voice of someone screaming for help jolted me out of my evening daydreaming. It sounded like my next door neighbour. I frantically found my door keys, unlocked the door and charged out from my house with my front door left ajar, I aimed towards my neighbour’s house.

Dear Lord!! Discovered her on the porch floor soaked in her own blood! Her hand feebly clenching her stomach to stop her bleeding.

“Help…me…help …… me..” She pleaded, she was losing consciousness. I’ve got to act fast!

“Don’t worry dear, you’ll be fine” I offered a weak consolation that could not conceal my shock and horror as I reached into my jeans pocket for my phone to ring 911. Oh my days! I left my phone in my house!!!

As I ran back to get my phone, countless thoughts raced through my head. What happened? Who did this? Burglars? Her partner? Her stepdaughter? A vengeful client? How? Why? What??

In response to the daily prompt: Countless
