Hello, Are You Available?

“Hello,
Are you available?”
To help, to listen,
To lend a hand,
To someone;

Someone in need
Someone
At the precipice
Of giving up,
At the brink of
Tipping over
And falling headlong
Into the abysmal pit
Of the three Dees-

Despair
Depression
Despondency

“Hello,
Are you available?”
To help, to listen,
To lend a hand;

“Yes, I am”, you say
“But no, you are not”
I know
“How do you know?”,
You ask.

I know, because
Your eyes, your mind,
Your full attention
Are glued
To your phone,
To your gadget;

Hence,
You did not see
My sad face,
You did not see
The little tears
Running down
My cheeks;

You did not hear
When in a choked voice,
I asked,

“Hello,
Are you available?
To help, to listen
To lend a hand
To me”

The message is clear. May we not become so engrossed in our gadgets that we neglect and forget to be a blessing to the people around us.

Lean on Me, Child

Despair and despondency as you hit the peak of your worst nightmare,
You reach out in search of hope, but, you’re like the blind, groping in the dark,
Lost in blank empty thoughts, tears well up and stream down your face endlessly,
Everything you believed in and worked for has crumbled, like a pack of dominoes,
The special delicacy you once relished has lost all its sweetness to your palate,
Life in itself has become a daunting unbearable task, a dark lonely road,
You desperately search for a reason to live and carry on, but you find none.

You cry out in tears,
“Hold me close, never let me go. Let me hear Your voice, only You can save me”.

Silence.

Then, He replies,
“I’m closer to you than your next breath, I’m here for you. I will help you go through it and give you strength for every step of your journey, I will not desert you.”
“Lean on Me child and I will give you rest”.

Heroin

Depression struck as the realisation of an apparent deprivation set in.
In the stead of a once gallant bubbliness and cheerfulness was the incessant voices of self-pity, self-blame and dire loneliness
Tearfulness, tissues and name-calling was the order of the day.
The world was no longer a safe haven but an unbearable hell.
Suicide and self-harm became viable options
Yet unwittingly abandoned at the very thought
Seeking to numb the emotional turmoil and frustrations,
Desperate to fly and glide into the pain-free worlds of fantasies and unicorns,
Recourse is made to one potent lethal resort and addiction-
Heroin

Drug addiction is a serious disease. Users either end with jail, mental health institution or dead. Be a beacon of light and help someone overcome this habit.
