It’s not about the gift
It’s a lot about the giver
We tend to applaud and adulate
Those who give more, but
At times we disregard
Those who gave so little
It’s human nature
A natural human tendency
But, it’s not how God intended

Jesus applauded the widow
Who gave little out of nothing
To teach us a valuable lesson
The widow desired to give
Her heart longed to give
Hence, her meagre possession
Was not a deterrent
Jesus knew she gave from
The heart, her heart only

We have to learn to thread cautiously
When we applaud gifts and givers
Every gift is important
More-so every giver
Thankfully it is God who rewards
He rewards the heart
Not the pocket
He blesses motives
Not the charismatic moves
We must learn not to judge a giver
By the measure of his gift
But by the motives and intents
Of his hidden heart

When we master this skill
We will realise how important it is
To appreciate and praise every giver
With true heart-felt words of gratitude
Despite the size of their gift

Don’t Stop Believing

Don’t stop believing in yourself.
Don’t stop believing in God
Who makes all things possible
And beautiful in His time.

Don’t stop believing
In your dream,
In who you truly want to be.

All around you
A ton of brick walls,
Nothing seems to work,

All you have now is nothing
But your faith,

Hold on to that faith

Don’t let it go
Don’t stop believing in yourself

Dream. Desire. Achieve

I Know Who I Am – I Am A Woman of God

If there’s one thing I’m happy about
I’m happy I’m a girl or… a woman
I love to dress up, heels and all
I love to make up, mascara and all
Matching shoes and bag is my thing
I love fashion and I like looking trendy
I love pink, purple, blue, green and red
I love to nurture, to care, to love
I love roses, cards and chocolates
I may not like period pains
I may cry over labour pains
I may have crushes and heartbreaks
I may not have a pointed nose,
A curvy shape or blue eyes
But I’m a girl, I’m a woman
I’m a sister, I’m a daughter,
I’m a mother, I’m a wife…
I know who I am
That’s who God made me
That’s who I am,
And I’m proud it is so

Happy International Women’s Day to every woman out there 👠👠👗👒💝💝

The Pursuit of Tomorrow

In pursuit of tomorrow’s gains
We neglect today’s gifts
In pursuit of tomorrow’s beauties
We neglect today’s blessings

That which I do not have
Let me not thirst for
That which I do have
Let me be thankful for

Let not the majestic morrow I seek
Keep me from contentment today
Let not the luxurious life I seek
Keep me from truly living everyday

A Simple Text…

She woke up feeling cranky, sulky, tired, and emotionally knackered. A lazy morning, on the bed, she thought about everything that was going wrong, the tad misunderstanding with her daughter the night before…and general nothingness. Then a text came in. It was from her daughter and it read, “You’re the best mum I could ever have. I’m sorry for last night. Happy Easter. Love you xx”.

It was a simple but timely text. It was refreshing and uplifting. She needed to hear something like it. As she stared at the text, a grateful emotion began to spread through her face and into her heart. She opened her mind and embraced it, thus dispelling the dark shadows of gloom that lurked about earlier.

She was truly grateful for daughter and the journeys of life they have experienced together alone. No measure or scale could quantify the extent of love and gratitude that now flowed through her heart.

And with a pleased smile and a renewed strength, she rose up to ride into her day.

It was just a simple text… but it changed her day.

Thank God It’s Friday!

Thank You God for:

F- Family and friends– we love them, we fight with them, we play with them and we face life together with them. Always there for each other through thick and thin. A shoulder to cry on and a face to laugh with.

I- Incomes and expenditures, assignments, projects, contracts, jobs, shifts, and all manner of work, different talents, skills, abilities and every work of our hands. We have fulfilment and sheer delight through them. We have blessed others and have been blessed through them. We have found some comfort and have provided for our families through them.

D- Daily living. For life. We wake up every morning to experience Your Word and Your Spirit, Your mercies and grace, Your peace and joy, Your faithfulness and love towards us.  Thankful for the death of Christ on the cross through which we have found abundant life.

A- All and every other blessings we have– food, water, clothes, health, a home, cars/bikes, smart phones/tablets, the air, trees, birds, sky, animals, etc etc the world we live in. They have helped to improve our way of living.

Y- You and me. We are unique and special. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Very originally made with a use-only-once specifications. We are made in God’s image and likeness. As many that comes to Him, He makes them His children.

Thank God it’s Friday!

NB: In response to today’s daily prompt, I’m grateful to God for my 2 baby boys. They are such a treasure to my heart.

Lost and Found

I lost my watch
And found my hands
I lost some clothes
And found a family
I lost my shoes
And found my feet
I lost my money
And found myself
I lost my time
And found my friend
I said a prayer
And found my heart
I lost myself
I found the true meaning of living

I became aware of the needs around me
I became aware of the suffering, pain and lack

Through giving I became grateful for what I had
That which I take for granted is a luxury to others

be grateful
learn to give
for by giving
you receive

Alone… I Find You

Alone in the secret place under the shadow of Your wings
I find peace beyond understanding
Alone in the boundless depths of Your everlasting grace
I find mercy beyond belief
Alone in Your presence as the morning sun breaks through
I find untold treasures of joy

I am beloved of You, You are jealous for me
I am redeemed by You, You freed me for You
I was saved by You, You are a blessing to me

Alone in Your presence with my heart focused on You
I find strength, faith and love
Alone but not lonely
Alone and not afraid
Alone but not forsaken
Alone, but not despised

Alone in Your presence with my spirit united in You
Cocooned by You
I find You

A Perfect World?

A perfect home
A perfect health
A perfect body
A perfect car
A perfect boss
A perfect job
A perfect child
A perfect spouse
A perfect house
A perfect holiday
A perfect life
A perfect world

Everybody desires perfection, we work hard, pray hard, study hard, plan hard and think hard. Yet, perfection eludes us like a slippery eel on a slimy bath. There is always a clog somewhere in the wheels. Life is never perfect, has never been. Such is life!

Less grumbling, less whining, more love
Less complaining, less comparing, more love
Less sabotaging, less attacking, more love
Less pity-party, less blame-game, more love
Less stinginess, less unthankfulness, more love

More contentment, more gratitude, more love.

“I was crying I didn’t have shoes till I found one without feet”.

You don’t know the value of what you have till you lose it. Don’t wait till you lose it. Be thankful and cherish it now.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Ours can be greener too if we show it some tender loving care.
