There abides three things- hope, faith, love; and the greatest of them is love

Two is better than one they say
I never knew how true
Till I met you

Love is sweet to have they say
I never knew how sweet
Till I loved you

Life is wonderful when you have
someone to share it with
I never knew how true
Till I said,
“I will share my life with you”

Poet’s Notes:
I was going through my email this morning, deleting my old mails to have more storage space on my device. I came across this poem I wrote for my husband, then fiancé, on the 18/11/2006. I was truly amazed at my words and I was greatly encouraged. This resonates with my post yesterday- The Pen. I’ve completed forgotten that I wrote a beauty like this.

I know in many years to come, I will look back at my blog and my heart would be filled with great gladness when I read my words, my books and many more things I may have penned down.
Shalom

Two passengers,

One life,
Two passengers,
The man, the woman,
Many adventures,
Forever together.

Precipitous hills,
Rocky valleys,
Perilous seas,
Peaceful shores,
Pains, joys,
Cries, laughter,
What a journey!

My best friend,
My companion,
United in heart,
United through God,
Marriage truly is
A blessed gift
From God to man

Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone? And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-11)

My Beautiful One

Wonderful, adorable, my precious wife,
God blessed my life the day I met you,
Excelling and the best, my leading lady,
Virtuous and noble; pure with a sweet heart,
Everything about you is beautiful.

You are beautiful
You are gorgeous
My best friend
My Wonder Woman
You are beautiful
You are gorgeous
My sweet wife
My soulmate
Everything about you is beautiful

As I renew my vows to you today before everyone,
I pledge my commitment and faithfulness once again,
It’s been 10 years with you my rare gem,
Forever, till death part us, it shall be,
Because, everything about you is beautiful.

The Music of His Love

The sound of his voice is music to my ears,
His tender whispers of love is music to my heart,
He looks at me with unfeigned devotion,
He smiles at me with great admiration,
With the touch of his hands, I know I’m secure;
With the touch of his lips, I know I’m loved;
Melodious symphonies playing on the stereo
Wrapped in his wonderful strong arms, I am
In tune in body, heart and soul,
I’m lost in a time I wish not to end,
As we gently dance to the music of love,
I am my beloved and my beloved is mine.

(A love poem dedicated to my loving husband)

A Mother’s Love

She gives up her name to answer his name
Even though some do retain their maiden names.
Still she gives up her identity somehow;
She gives up her body to bear his babies-
Passes through the inevitable popular 9 month seasons of morning sickness, bloating, constipation, body disfiguring, sleepless nights, demanding attractive partner, silly noisy adorable children, etc. etc. etc.
Which culminates into excruciating labour pains, c-sections, episiotomy, epidural, birth complications, incessant hospital visits,.. until the baby is born… Wow!
Most times, with the demands of childcare she changes her job and puts her career on hold;
She gives in her time to go to work;
She comes back from work and resumes housework/children work- cleaning and cooking, hoovering and dusting, laundry and ironing, assisting with homework, amidst scolding and shouting, loving and caring, quarrels and tantrums, stories at bedtime, hugs and kisses etc etc etc
She ends all that and then, sometimes, resumes marital conjugal duties that same night… Wow!
She hardly gets a “me, myself and I” time; and the next morning the cycle begins again!

I bet you are asking, “Why and how does she do these? What motivates her?”
As a mother, I know the reason behind this is summed up in one word- Love.
The unconditional, unconventional, dynamic, incomprehensible, sacrificial, amazing and wonderful love of a mother.

A mother’s love- the quintessential epitome of sacrifice.
