Lighting The Candle of Hope

He cleared some old papers
From his desk
A blue paper fell off
He picked it, and opened it;
It was a drawing
One of his daughter’s drawings
Tears welled up his eyes
As he held the paper
Close to his chest
Lips trembling, heart aching
Heart yearning

“I’m not ready
To say my final goodbye
Because
I’m still waiting
For you
To open that door
And say
Daddy, I’m home”

He knew he would
Run ten thousand miles
Walk to the ends of the earth
Do everything, anything possible
If that would bring
Daddy’s little girl
Home
Alive and well

The worst nightmare for any family is to lose a child through kidnapping. It’s a nightmare worse than death no one would wish for their worst enemy. The uncertainty, the regrets, the should haves and would haves; such a burden is too heavy for anyone to bear.

I’m lighting this candle of hope, praying for families like the family of Madeleine Mccann who turned 14yrs yesterday the May 12th. Join me and say a quiet prayer that the good and merciful Lord will bring their lost children home safely. Amen.

May the dreams, desires and hopes of these families in pain be a reality, may it be achieved; for every dream we desire and aspire for can be achieved, Amen.

under the blanket…

under the blanket my tears flowed all through the night…

under the blanket I found strength to move on…

under the blanket I wished I didn’t love you…

under the blanket I knew I could still love again…

under the blanket, alone in my world, I decided…

i decided to give love a second chance…

If Only They Knew

Unable to relax on the cosy sofa, the stranger yawned lazily and loudly, much to the chagrin of the other faces in the room.
If only they knew…
She yawned, she sighed, she blinked with fatigue,
She struggled desperately not to sleep,
As she constantly sat upright;

Her jeans were slightly discoloured with dirt,
Her shoes were worn out,
Her eyes tired and her body totally exhausted,
She dozed off at intervals with a husky snore,
She felt the intensity of their disapproving eyes
While she tenaciously clung her bag close to her chest;

If only they knew her story…
If only she could talk without crying…

Lean on Me, Child

Despair and despondency as you hit the peak of your worst nightmare,
You reach out in search of hope, but, you’re like the blind, groping in the dark,
Lost in blank empty thoughts, tears well up and stream down your face endlessly,
Everything you believed in and worked for has crumbled, like a pack of dominoes,
The special delicacy you once relished has lost all its sweetness to your palate,
Life in itself has become a daunting unbearable task, a dark lonely road,
You desperately search for a reason to live and carry on, but you find none.

You cry out in tears,
“Hold me close, never let me go. Let me hear Your voice, only You can save me”.

Silence.

Then, He replies,
“I’m closer to you than your next breath, I’m here for you. I will help you go through it and give you strength for every step of your journey, I will not desert you.”
“Lean on Me child and I will give you rest”.

Which Room? What News?

Countless screams and joyful outbursts filled one room while cries of pain and sadness filled another.

Shivering with anticipation and endlessly rubbing sweaty hands, tapping restless feet on the wooden floor in a vain effort to manage tension, glancing eyes about yet barely seeing anything, thoughts incoherent and mind not at ease.

The suspense is intoxicating, the waiting game is emotionally draining… waiting to be called forth, to be directed to one of the two rooms.

Two unsettling questions to be answered by the sluggish slothful time- which room? What news?

Daily Prompt: Shiver

Jesus- Our Best Buddy Ever!

What a friend we have in Jesus! All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.
Oh, what peace we often forfeit! Oh, what needless pain we bear!
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden? Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our Refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do your friends despise forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he’ll take and shield you; you wilt find a solace there.

Hymn by Joseph M. Scriven

When we think of all the challenges life throws our ways; when sickness ravages the body that the doctors and physicians are confused; when the death of a loved one leaves us vulnerable and burdened with pain; when despite our faith and unending prayers, the matter seems to persist; when debts and financial crisis attempts to steal our joy; when at the crossroads of life’s decisions we don’t know what to do; when we are all alone struggling to keep up and there’s no one who understands; when war and terrorism attempts to bind us with fear; when the hurt of the past stops us from moving forward; when our life comes to a halt and nothing seems to be working no matter how hard we try; when we are in dire need of forgiveness and restoration; when we’ve been lied to, betrayed, despised and forgotten.

In such times, we realise there’s one buddy, one friend we can count on any day, any time, anywhere. He’s never tired or weary of us, He’s always there in good times, bad times, middle times. He never fails and we can count on His unending love, His redeeming mercy, His unfailing compassion and matchless faithfulness to see us through the times. No matter how we beat His chest in pain or in anger, His arms are always there wrapped around us, keeping us safe and secure in Him, comforting and consoling us. And if we wipe our tears and listen closely to His heart, we will hear Him saying, “Trust Me child, I will never leave you nor forsake you”.

Jesus, the best Buddy we can ever have!

Footsteps in the Dark

The trees stood dead still and the dry yellow leaves rustled under her feet as she made her way through the path. The mourning of the wind haunted her as the evening sun bid farewell to the sky. Her heart pounded louder than the drums of a Zumba beat. The stillness and quietness of this path sent chillness to her bones. She increased her steps to move faster when…

Suddenly, she heard footsteps some distance behind her. She stopped and listened but heard nothing. It must be her fears toying with her imaginations. She carried on and there again she heard the steps, she froze with fright. “Who’s there?”, she called out, voice quavering but the only response she got was the howlings of the wind.

Adrenaline pumping through her veins, she sped off running as fast as her legs could carry her. She almost was certain she was been chased after as the rustles of the leaves behind her increased as well. Tears streamed down her face and dreadful thoughts raced through her mind. All she could mutter underneath her breath was, “Please don’t hurt me! Please don’t hurt me”… (To be continued).
